The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up its campaign efforts across key poll-bound regions as senior leaders fan out to connect with voters ahead of upcoming Assembly elections. On April 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president JP Nadda are leading rallies in Assam, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah is campaigning in Kerala and Puducherry.
The coordinated outreach comes as political activity intensifies in the run-up to elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry. These elections are seen as a significant test for national and regional parties alike, given the varied political landscape across the states.
In Assam, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address three public meetings during the day, beginning in Barpeta, followed by Hojai and later Dibrugarh. The rallies are part of the BJP’s effort to consolidate support in the northeastern state, where it has been a key political player in recent years.
JP Nadda is also campaigning in Assam, with public gatherings planned in Tinsukia and Lakhimpur. His engagements are focused on mobilising party workers and reinforcing the party’s organisational network at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah is marking the party’s foundation day by addressing BJP workers in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Following this, he is scheduled to visit Puducherry, where he will participate in a roadshow aimed at boosting the party’s visibility and voter outreach in the Union Territory.
The BJP’s campaign strategy reflects a broader push to maximise engagement in the final days before polling. By deploying its top leadership across multiple regions simultaneously, the party is seeking to strengthen its messaging and energise its support base.
The Assembly elections will be held in phases over the coming weeks. Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry are set to vote in a single phase on April 9. Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on April 23, while West Bengal’s 294 seats will be contested in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes for all states will take place on May 4.
With just days remaining before voting begins in several regions, campaigning is expected to intensify further. Political parties are focusing on large rallies, direct voter engagement, and targeted messaging as they make their final appeal to the electorate.
