PM Modi Leads Roadshow in Thrissur as NDA Intensifies Kerala Poll Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Thrissur on Sunday evening, drawing significant public turnout as campaigning gathers momentum ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections.

The event, which covered a route of nearly 900 metres through central parts of the city, saw supporters lining the streets well in advance. The procession began near the district hospital and moved through prominent areas such as Swaraj Round, a key public space in Thrissur.

Standing atop an open vehicle, the Prime Minister acknowledged the crowd, waving to supporters who had gathered along the route. Many attendees were seen recording the event on their mobile phones, sharing visuals across social media platforms.

The roadshow was attended by senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including Union Minister Suresh Gopi and politician Padmaja Venugopal, reflecting the alliance’s focused campaign efforts in central Kerala.

Earlier in the day, Modi arrived at Kuttanellur, where he was received by local BJP and NDA leaders. The Thrissur roadshow followed his public engagement in Palakkad, forming part of a broader campaign schedule in the state.

While no formal address was delivered during the procession, the event served as a key outreach exercise aimed at energising party workers and increasing visibility ahead of the polls. BJP leaders have consistently emphasised their intention to strengthen the party’s presence in Kerala.

The state’s political landscape has traditionally been dominated by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF). The BJP-led NDA has been working to position itself as an alternative in what is expected to be a closely contested election.

Public roadshows and rallies are a common feature of election campaigns in India, often used to mobilise supporters and engage directly with voters. The turnout in Thrissur indicates heightened political activity as parties intensify their campaigns in the lead-up to polling.

With elections approaching, political outreach across Kerala is expected to continue at a rapid pace, with parties focusing on both large-scale events and grassroots engagement to reach voters.
