Tim David’s unbeaten 70 and a late surge power Bengaluru to a commanding win at Chinnaswamy Stadium
Bengaluru, April 6: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a dominant performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs in their Indian Premier League 2026 fixture at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
The match saw RCB register 250 for 3 — the highest total of the season so far — before restricting CSK to 207 all out in a one-sided contest.
RCB’s innings was built on a strong foundation laid by Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 50 and recorded his second consecutive half-century. His innings provided stability early on, allowing the middle order to accelerate.
The decisive phase came in the final overs, where Tim David and Rajat Patidar unleashed an aggressive counterattack. The duo stitched an unbeaten 99-run partnership off just 35 balls. David remained not out on 70, reaching his fifty in 21 deliveries, while Patidar added 48 not out, helping RCB post a daunting total.
In response, CSK’s chase faltered early as they lost key wickets in the powerplay. Despite a fighting half-century from Sarfaraz Khan and useful contributions from Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37), the visitors struggled to keep up with the required run rate.
RCB’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the attack with figures of 3 for 41 and reached the milestone of 200 wickets in IPL history during the match. He was well supported by Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh and Krunal Pandya, who picked up two wickets each.
The result marks RCB’s fourth consecutive win over CSK, a first in the tournament’s history, indicating a shift in momentum between the two sides.
The victory strengthens RCB’s position in IPL 2026 and underlines their strong form, while CSK will need to reassess both their batting approach and bowling execution ahead of upcoming matches.
