Sony has announced a fresh global price revision for its PlayStation 5 lineup, with the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro becoming more expensive across major international markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and several Southeast Asian countries.
The latest increase comes as Sony cites continued economic pressure, rising component costs, and global supply chain challenges. The revised prices were first rolled out in major markets earlier this month, with additional changes now extending to Southeast Asia from
In the United States, the updated prices are:
- PS5: $649.99
- PS5 Digital Edition: $599.99
- PS5 Pro: $899.99
In the United Kingdom, the revised prices stand at:
- PS5: £569.99
- PS5 Digital Edition: £519.99
- PS5 Pro: £789.99
Japan has also seen a steep increase, with the standard PlayStation 5 now priced at ¥97,980, while the PS5 Pro has been revised to ¥137,980. (
Sony has further expanded the hike to Southeast Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
For Singapore, the latest pricing includes:
- PS5: SGD 849
- PS5 Digital Edition: SGD 764
- PS5 Pro: SGD 1,167
The move is unusual for the gaming industry, where consoles traditionally become more affordable as they mature. Instead, the PS5 lineup has now seen multiple price revisions during its lifecycle, reflecting the persistent pressure on the global electronics sector. Analysts point to higher memory chip prices and semiconductor-related costs as key factors behind Sony’s decision.
For Indian buyers, however, there is relief for now.
Sony has not announced any official price increase for India at this stage. According to the latest verified reports, India remains one of the few major markets where PlayStation 5 prices have not yet been formally revised.
The current India pricing continues to remain:
- PS5 Standard Edition: ₹54,990
- PS5 Digital Edition: ₹44,990
There is still no official India price update for the PS5 Pro as part of the latest global hike.
The absence of an immediate revision could offer a temporary buying window for Indian gamers, especially with demand expected to remain strong ahead of major upcoming game releases. However, market watchers believe local pricing could also be reviewed if international component and import costs continue to rise.
