Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, continues its extraordinary theatrical run worldwide, with the film now inching closer to the lifetime global benchmark set by Dangal starring Aamir Khan.
Trade trackers and entertainment industry reports suggest that the action-thriller sequel has entered the final stretch towards the Rs 1,800 crore worldwide milestone. The development comes amid growing online speculation surrounding a possible third installment in the franchise, tentatively referred to by fans and industry watchers as “Dhurandhar 3.”
According to recent box office estimates, the film added around Rs 42 lakh nett in India on its 51st day in theatres, taking its domestic and overseas totals to historic levels for a Hindi-language film. Reports indicate that the worldwide gross collection is now nearing Rs 1,800 crore, putting it within touching distance of the long-standing all-time Indian cinema record held by Dangal.
The film has already crossed several major milestones during its theatrical journey. Industry trackers reported earlier this month that Dhurandhar: The Revenge surpassed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to emerge as the second highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.
While Dangal remains ahead on the all-time global chart — aided significantly by its blockbuster China run — the rapid rise of Dhurandhar 2 has reignited debate around the changing economics of Indian cinema, particularly for Hindi-language action franchises.
The sequel, released on March 19, 2026, opened to massive collections across India and overseas territories. Within just three days, the film crossed the Rs 500 crore worldwide mark, becoming one of the fastest Indian films to achieve the feat.
Trade analysts have credited the film’s sustained momentum to strong audience reception, repeat viewership and the popularity of its large-scale action set pieces. The film also benefited from the success of the first installment, Dhurandhar, which had already established the franchise as a major box office force.
The franchise, produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, features an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna. Reports indicate that both films in the two-part saga were shot back-to-back on a combined budget estimated at around Rs 250 crore.
The latest wave of excitement surrounding the film has also been driven by mounting chatter about a third chapter. Though the makers have not officially confirmed Dhurandhar 3, several entertainment portals have reported that the ending of the sequel and post-release buzz have sparked strong fan demand for another installment.
Actor Arjun Rampal recently described the team’s reaction to the film’s success as “shock,” noting that the scale of audience response exceeded expectations.
Apart from dominating the Hindi-speaking market, the film has also performed strongly in southern states and overseas territories. Reports from trade websites suggest the film became one of the top-performing Bollywood titles in regions like Kerala, while also registering record collections internationally.
The box office performance has further strengthened Ranveer Singh’s standing as one of the industry’s biggest commercial stars. For director Aditya Dhar, the success marks another major achievement after the popularity of his earlier directorial ventures.
With the film still attracting audiences more than seven weeks after release, industry observers are now closely watching whether Dhurandhar: The Revenge can eventually challenge the global lifetime record of Dangal. While the final outcome remains uncertain, the film’s unprecedented theatrical run has already secured its place among the biggest success stories in Indian box office history.
