Andy Flower, head coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined following an on-field confrontation with the fourth umpire during the team’s dramatic IPL 2026 win over Mumbai Indians.
The Indian Premier League confirmed on Monday that Flower breached the league’s Code of Conduct during the high-pressure match played in Raipur. The contest ended in a last-ball, two-wicket victory for RCB, a result that also knocked Mumbai Indians out of the playoff race.
IPL Confirms Level-1 Breach
According to the league’s official statement, Flower was found guilty of a Level-1 offence under the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
The former Zimbabwe captain received a 15 per cent deduction from his match fee for violating Article 2.3 of the code, which relates to the use of audible obscenity during a match.
The incident took place during the 17.2 over of Mumbai Indians’ innings. Television visuals showed Flower involved in an animated exchange with the fourth umpire following a disputed boundary decision as the chase entered a tense phase.
Match referee Amit Sharma reviewed the matter and later imposed the sanction after determining that the coach’s behaviour breached conduct standards expected during IPL matches.
